Understanding Our Moment in History: An Archetypal Perspective – A Workshop with Richard Tarnas

Dates: 03/10/2012 Dates: 03/10/2012 Times: 10:00 - 16:30 Location: Puget Sound Yacht Club

We live in a dramatic period in the history of the world with high stakes for the planetary future. To help us navigate this threshold of transformation, we need every available source of relevant insight. One of the most powerful methods of historical understanding is careful analysis of correlations between major outer-planet alignments and the archetypal patterns of collective experience and the cultural era. Perhaps more than any other form of analysis, archetypal astrology can illuminate synchronistic waves of events and trends occurring throughout the world at a given time, while also revealing larger historical patterns that unfold cyclically through the centuries. This workshop will survey recent and current planetary alignments to illuminate where we are today, how we got here, and the deeper collective impulses at work now shaping our immediate future.

Richard TarnasĀ is a professor at the California Institute of Integral Studies in San Francisco, where he founded the graduate program in Philosophy, Cosmology, and Consciousness. He also lectures on archetypal studies and depth psychology at Pacifica Graduate Institute in Santa Barbara, and is on the Board of Governors of the C. G. Jung Institute of San Francisco. He is the author of The Passion of the Western Mind, a history of the Western world view widely used as a text in universities, and Cosmos and Psyche: Intimations of a New World View, which received the Book of the Year Prize from the Scientific and Medical Network. He has taught graduate courses and seminars on archetypal astrology in conjunction with psychology, philosophy, and cultural history to many hundreds of students at accredited graduate schools during the past twenty years.

Doors open at 9:30 am. The workshop runs from 10:00 am to 4:30 pm.
